Kitchen and Larder is owned and operated by me, Ella Kennedy. I am a self employed cook. I have been catering parties in Wicklow and Dublin since 2011. Prior to setting up Kitchen & Larder in Newcastle, Co. Wicklow I worked at the now famous Ottolenghi delis in London. I have also worked as a private chef in France and Belgium.
What I do
In the last couple of years I have started to scale back the amount of party catering work I take on. These jobs are exciting and challenging but they are only half the story.
Good food is not just for parties and special occasions. The daily habits of home cooking and eating well are just as important. This is why I have recently made space for cooking lessons in my schedule.
Kitchen & Garden
I work from a production kitchen in some converted stables at my parent’s home near Newcastle Co. Wicklow. It is cool in summer and freezing in winter but I love my stable kitchen.
We grow a lot of fruit and veggies here too. A poly tunnel, a handful of raised beds and a little baby orchard make up the garden. In summer we make great use of homegrown tomatoes, potatoes, courgettes, cucumbers, herbs and soft fruits.
It is incredibly important to me to be conscious of the impact my day to day business has on the local environment and economy. I do my very best to buy Irish ingredients and products and source ingredients with the highest welfare and environmental standards.
I also reduce, reuse, recycle and compost as much waste as I possibly can.
